This will be the first year of the festival but many of the people involved with the organisation hold a track record of staging some of the most accomplished, ‘nationally known’, crowd pulling professionals, plus exciting up-and-coming young performers from across Huddersfield and West Yorkshire. The ‘Funday Sunday’ committee has been lucky enough to secure performances from more than ten fantastic local groups as well as a nationally recognised Tribute band: Take That LIVE. There will be a main stage to accommodate the bands with the bandstand being used to showcase various styles of music.
The aims and objectives of the festival are and always will be to raise awareness to the campaign against the proposed reconfiguration of local NHS provision whilst providing a fantastic experience for people of all ages and varying musical tastes. There is a firm emphasis on providing a family friendly environment for first time festival goers and long time music fans; everyone can experience a wide range of musical acts within a safe environment.
The acts that have been secured so far include: the legendary local Rock band: Storm; the fantastic Reggae/Ska band Superfly fronted by local legend and MC Audley Buckle; Three other great local bands including the versatile local covers band The Sellouts, classic rock masters Vital Statistix, and the upcoming youthful energy of Days of Riot who will provide the main stage entertainment. The headline act is a fantastic national tribute act: Take That LIVE who will bring their amazing performance to the park.
There are also traditional brass band performers such as Linthwaite Brass Band who will be complimented by Deadbeat Brass: an excellent alternative brass band; there will also be performances by Mucipups Ukulele band and the fantastic ensemble: Pennine Jazz, more will be added as they are able to confirm.
There will be additional performances and attractions such as – Dance exhibitions from diverse groups such as: The Dance Emporium, Fidget Feet and A2D Cheerleaders, Martial Arts demonstrations from The Colne Valley Black Belt Academy and MSA Huddersfield Thai Boxing, there will also be an opportunity to get involved with the local forest school Babes in the Wood who will provide an opportunity for families to get involved and see what the school offers. More groups will be announced as they confirm. There will also be activities such as Zorb balls, bungee trampolining and a climbing wall to keep everyone entertained.
